Dirty Little Secret #6 of 10 – Clutter: Part Mess, Part Stress

CB063014

This ability to stay above the emotion allows me to give clients a fresh, empowering perspective.  One that only comes from the outside in.  Many people can not do this on their own when under stress.

Many of my clients are not naturally disorganized or scattered people.   They can feel in charge of their lives, and manage their time and space with intention.  However, it’s an understatement to say they are “busy”.  Some live like a circus contortionist, spinning 10 plates on sticks while riding a bicycle backwards on a tightrope. Why does coaching take so long?

goal setting

Short answer: because your brain is wired one way, and in order to change that wiring, we need to create new connections and grow them.

This means choosing new habits and attitudes, and intentionally substituting them for old ones. Anyone who’s ever succeeded in losing weight and keeping it off knows what this is like.  Unlike resurfacing internal change takes consistent effort over time.

What’s a WIKI?

A wiki is an online collaboration tool that allows people to share information freely and easily.  It’s also what I’m using in my productivity coaching practice to help clients stay on track and involved in the coaching process in between sessions.  More regular involvement means faster, better and longer-lasting results, which is the ROI  of your coaching investment.

The hallmark of my organizing and … Continue Reading

“Place your own oxygen mask on first”

oxygen

“-then assist those around you”.

Why so selfish?  Well, look at you.  You may be taking better care of your pets than you do of yourself.  That leaves you overtired, crabby (that’s the nice word for it), malnourished, forgetful to an extreme, and feeling like a pinball (remember those?) being flipped from bumper to bumper.  You might feel like you aren’t doing anything well these days, that you’re just treading water.  Career, family, friends, finances, future, my blood pressure rises steadily with each word.

Putting on your own oxygen mask first means taking reasonably good care … Continue Reading
