Happiness as a Productivity Tool

As I was skimming the web for inspiration this morning, I was reminded of what I fondly refer to as “the most underrated productivity tool of all”: Happiness.  Most productivity blogs address management of everything from post-its to projects.  Time, paper, email, meetings…  Happiness goes, well, sadly overlooked.

The bottom line of any productivity system is that the users have to be motivated to implement.  And, nothing, but nothing motivates most people like relationship.

Google seems to have cornered the market on workplace happiness.   Check out all the measures (including culture) in place to value creativity and career satisfaction.

The REAL Cause of Procrastination

paperclip procrastinatorThere is no shortage of information available on procrastination.  Amazon.com lists 50 titles of self-help books addressing different aspects of procrastination.  Now, if I’m late on a project deadline, the last thing I need is to snuggle in with a book.

I’d like to empower you by telling you that not procrastinating is entirely a matter of decision.  That is to say, procrastination is a result of indecision, more than anything else. Thank you, Toodledo

toodledo listThanks to Toodledo, I have been able to accomplish an unprecedented amount of boring but vital admin work this week.

How does Wiki-based coaching work?

After your first session, our goals and Action Plan will be posted on the wiki, along with my notes and links to valuable resources.  Each time we speak or meet, the golden nuggets are posted on the wiki.  This means no more lost notes and forgotten goals. No more worrying about getting off-track in between live sessions.

The best thing about the wiki is its flexibility.  You can work with me when I’m with another client, when I’m travelling or sleeping.  Whether it’s a brief question,  a group discussion including a mentor or colleague, I’ll get your thoughts in … Continue Reading

What’s a WIKI?

A wiki is an online collaboration tool that allows people to share information freely and easily.  It’s also what I’m using in my productivity coaching practice to help clients stay on track and involved in the coaching process in between sessions.  More regular involvement means faster, better and longer-lasting results, which is the ROI  of your coaching investment.

Here’s a 3-minute, 52-second explanation of why a wiki is better than email for coaching:
