Top 3 Ways to Increase Happiness at Work

Here’s a great Happiness at Work clip brought to you by REI. Watch and learn!

True happiness is created from the inside-out, in the form of attitude.  Here are some simple actions you can take to increase your workplace happiness quotient by taking charge of how you feel:

1. Start the day smiling

I remember taking the bus to work, years ago in Boston.  A typical dark and wet winter morning, I rode to work standing in the aisle.  A … Continue Reading

Dirty Little Secret #9 of 10 – What I Think of You

man btw piles of paper“I bet this is the worst mess you’ve ever seen”, you say. “Not by far”, I say, and close the subject.

But then, what do I think when I enter an office (or an entire building) full of clutter?  In-boxes filled with hundreds of unread emails? Months and months of unopened office mail?

Or,when I meet a talented professional who’s disorganization is hurting his or her career?

In most cases, these thoughts come  to mind:

  1. Your are under a lot of stress. It is eating away

Free Online Backup – www.MOZY.com

header-mozy-logoThere’s no discussion that the most viable way to backup your computer is online, or on a remote server.  Why?  Because the fewer steps seperating you from what you need to accomplish, the more likely you are to get it done.  In the age of technology, that means automating as many routine tasks as possible.

So, last week when my laptop went belly-up, all I had to do after a system restore was log onto MOZY.com and restore my files.  What a wonderful feeling knowing that my files were … Continue Reading

Disorganization: part stress, part mess

I’m going to go out on a limb and blog about an item not related to office productivity – at least not directly. It’s because I care about you, and I know how much you or someone you really care about is irritated by those big boxes of unsorted photos hidden in your guestroom closet. Yes, the ones you have been meaning to take care of for.. years.

How did I know about them if I’ve never met you or been to your home? Because the overwhelming majority of people I’ve ever met have at least one box of unsorted photos … Continue Reading

The amazing vanishing organizer?

If you’ve been following my blogging launch in 2008, you may have noticed a sudden nose-dive in posts. It’s disappointing, to say the least, to feel “left hanging”. I’m here today to tell you that I’M BACK! and to let you in some personal experiences I’ve grown through recently. Keep reading – this is to your advantage!

We all know someone who thinks the world would be a better place if only we (or they) could “fix” our weaknesses. True, in theory.  In reality, trying to “fix” ourselves or someone else often leads to disappointment at best, conflict, low self-esteem and  dissolved relationships at worst.

The hallmark of my organizing and … Continue Reading

“Place your own oxygen mask on first”

oxygen

“-then assist those around you”.

Why so selfish?  Well, look at you.  You may be taking better care of your pets than you do of yourself.  That leaves you overtired, crabby (that’s the nice word for it), malnourished, forgetful to an extreme, and feeling like a pinball (remember those?) being flipped from bumper to bumper.  You might feel like you aren’t doing anything well these days, that you’re just treading water.  Career, family, friends, finances, future, my blood pressure rises steadily with each word.

Putting on your own oxygen mask first means taking reasonably good care … Continue Reading

Don’t just imagine success – see it and believe it.

Don’t Imagine Success – Believe It!

For over a year I have had Jim Donovan’s mp3 “Yes, You Can!” on my  Blackberry.  I found it by accident, browsing for free professional development downloads. I listen to it when I can’t sleep, when I’m driving, at the gym, or when I’m doing my admin work in the office.

Yes, You Can – download the MP3 FREE

Listen to Jim’s amazing story, then try something crazy: Tell yourself you can increase sales by 200% this year – and believe it.  Believe all the things you can do with a 200% sales increase.  Believe you will have the job of … Continue Reading
